JOE MEDINA was born in Managua, Nicaragua in 1968. He attended Hoover Street Elementary School and while still in Kindergarten he was selected for the Gifted Program. He earned his GED and High School Diploma while in the Sixth Grade.
​
He attended West Point Military Academy in 1979. That same year he earned a PhD in Psychology, in an audited course. He served in the Army from 1986 through 1987 and was awarded the Distinguished Graduate Award, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Driver's Badge Award. He dabbled in Music, Art, and Literature and longed to become a Writer.

He was a volunteer Corpsman for the Los Angeles Conservation Corps. He volunteered his services at UCLA Medical Center as a Surgeon/ Physician. He was a volunteer LAPD Officer, Field Agent for the FBI and the Agency, and was an L.A. County Family Court Judge.
​
He served as an LDS Missionary in Mexico City, D.F. from 1992 through 1994 where there after he became Sheriff in Mexico. He has degrees in Liberal Arts and Computer Information Systems from Los Angeles Trade Technical College. Joe Medina resides in Los Angeles. He married in 2004 and is father of two.
